NHS Ethical Recruitment: countries on the red list

At Jobs and Visas we are proud of our NHS ethical recruiters accreditation. The Code prohibits active international recruitment from countries which are on the World Health Organisation amber and red list. Below is a list of countries we are NOT allowed to recruit from:

Afghanistan Angola Bangladesh Benin Burkina Faso Burundi Cameroon Central African Republic Chad Comoros Congo Côte d'Ivoire Djibouti

Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Ethiopia Gabon Gambia, The Ghana Guinea Guinea-Bissau Haiti

Kenya † Kiribati

Laos Lesotho

Liberia

Madagascar

Malawi Mali Mauritania Micronesia, Mozambique

Nepal † Niger Nigeria Pakistan Papua New Guinea Rwanda Samoa

Senegal

Sierra Leone

Solomon Islands

Somalia South Sudan Sudan Timor-Leste

Togo

Tuvalu

Tanzania

Uganda

Vanuatu

Yemen

Zambia

Zimbabwe

† denotes countries on the WHO amber list

Please note that this does not mean that you cannot apply for jobs directly with the NHS, it just means that recruiters are not allowed to put you forward as a candidate.

However, the Code is mindful of a person’s right to migrate and therefore individual health or care workers from countries on the red list are permitted to make direct applications to health and social care UK jobs. This means they do it independently, without being proactively targeted by an employer or recruitment agency
